The Scouts meet every Wednesday night from 7:30 pm to 9 pm. The Scout
Leader is Graham and can be contacted by sending an email to
scouts@dalkeyscouts.ie. The Patrol
Leaders and Assistant Patrol Leaders stay until 9:30 pm to help planning
of future meetings.
The Scouts are the biggest section in Dalkey. The group is broken into
a number of Patrols, each one made up of about six or eight people for the duration of
the meeting. Sometimes there are competitions between each Patrol with points
awarded for winning games or completing tasks. Points are also awarded for
skills such as showing team work, leadership and team spirit as well as just
completing the task. The competition can run over a number of weeks and then
at the end the team with the hightest number of points wins a prize.

During the meeting every week they do a variety of activities from the fun stuff like playing
games to the more serious stuff like learning new skills. There is a
certain amount of time put aside each week to do badgework -
this is where the meeting is broken into smaller groups and the Scouts
take some time to learn and develop new skills. Over the year a number
of activities are run by the regional and national teams. Details can be
found on the National Scout Team
website.
The Scouts went to Walesby Forest
on camp last year - read all about it here, next year
the Scouts will be going to Kalkar from 9th to 24th of July on Annual Camp.
More information will be available shortly...
