Tubs and sprouts go the shouts all about
That means cubs and scouts
On week one sprouts were there
When the tubs arrived in week two
The quite sprout field became divided in two
Were all one group it was said?
But tubs had battle in there head
The sprouts were hunting bugs bunny
The tubs however hunted everything
Anything moving they filled with fear
However that being said, £10 pounds sterling filled their heads
The offer was thrown down, first live rabbit to be shown
Would be crowned the winner and receive ten pound
Groups were formed into hunting packs
To catch the rabbit title and bring honour to the pack
On the second Sunday a group of cubs moved in nearby
They used the forest on our camp
The tubs however were not pleased
And vowed to remove, the trespassers from our trees
A battle shout at 8am brought Rory Mahon and his band of merry men
The charge rang out across the fields
Struck the fear into the invaders hearts and they fled like arrows from bow
The tub army they had won, without ever firing their guns
Tubs and sprouts as we all know carry a penknife’s were err they go
A tool essential to the scout, its seems however tubs know best
And carry dozens at the ready in a war chest with an axe or two
A rule however they did not know is in England 18 you must be
When the knives were called in, the tubs outnumbered sprouts 4 to1
The sprouts of course were aghast to see the armoury the tubs amassed
The tubs however vowed to battle on, bought out their bows and throwing spears
To defend the site should an enemy draw near?
This off course caused the sprouts displeasure, as they welcomed all in there leisure
A girl called Kate called one day with a message for Aaron to say
He was out the leader told; either way I want to say, could you pass the message his way
Tell Blondie I think he’s cool and we all love him too
Upon reflection we see now the older scouts were always showering
When they emerged with Brillcream in, and high karate aftershave upon there chin
When they English scouts they did see, they swaggered up and down by the loving tree
Boys and girls giggling and blowing kisses through the trees
As you know we are a busy group, and don’t stand still like some troops
We always have lot planned this makes cubs and scouts feel grand.
When on camp we get about, without the need for too much shouting
Of course this is not always so for some tubs and sprouts find it hard
To raise them at an early hour, one must sing aloud to raise them from there sleepy bed
After a half an hour or so like blizzards in the snow
The lazy tubs and sprouts emerge, into the light
It must be said this can cause fright
Like cavemen and woman, they sometimes look
Dragged backwards through a bog after hitting their head upon a log
The early risers it must be said don’t spend too much time in there bed
Off they go at 6am to find their quarry on the site
Back they come full of cheer and demolish the breakfast near
Off we go each and every day, to see new things Hay! Hay!
We travel deep beneath the ground; to look at were the coal is found
We also like to play so Drayton manor for the day
Science of course we must not forget, so to Sheffield we must get
To magma world one and all to see life’s mysteries unfurled
We zip wire in over the molten steel bin
Then to Lincoln to check it out- both tubs and sprouts
We walk around the ancient walls, climb the turrets high and tall
In to jail cells we peep in
Stand back and look up high- at the Lincoln cathedral high in the sky
Off to Nottingham next day to explore the city sights and sounds
Scouts to the gallery’s of justice, whilst the cubs go below ground
The cubs emerged Scot-free, however scouts were sentenced by the court
For various crimes when they were caught were sentenced to van demons land
And the court it did say that the venture sentenced she could pay
To gain release from the cells below 5 pounds 6 shillings must be found
From York to camp and back again, the ground would tremble beneath our steps
It was felt by almost most around, that we surly must cause damage too the ground
Now hear yr hear ye I do say what many things to fill our day
The tubs knew all the best shops round, where sweets and drinks can be found
The sprouts were heard too say, that no tub could match their bargain finds
24 packs of crisps and chocolate too a bottle of pop washes it all down
All of the above could be got for just under a pound, great value shouts aloud.
Now it’s true that we eat well each day were so busy we burn all the calories away
All of the sprouts and the tubs too, kept really quite fit even with all the food
It was whispered the leaders gained a pound or two, a spokesman explained it’s very untrue
Now away on this camp for the sprouts we had two PLs
Able and eager they were as well able too lead their entire brigade
Now Finn was said to be tough but not in the least any way rough
Shannon was known for cooking real well, but when it came to the wash up Ah well
There were many a scout they’re as well, and two ventures as well to balance the stew
The leaders were all perfect of that there is no doubt, even if one or two let the odd shout
Our driver Dave was there the entire time, ready to shuttle us from activity to town
The tubs and sprouts were all able to agree he was the best diver this side of the Mississippi
When it came too going forward in that giant big bus, he always got there on time with no rush
When it came to reverse he could not be beat, and was said to be almost a treat
One day he backed in so that no one could believe, that anything like it was ever achieved
Such was the amazement upon all our faces; we clapped and celebrated this unique achievement
Now the tubs were grouped into three patrols, at the helm a leader not too be tested
In patrol number one we had Tom Wall a hell of an achiever able too lead and able too metre
Such were his skills there can be no doubt that one day soon he will lead some sprouts
Then we had Ned a real cool guy, whom it’s known is not the least bit shy
He ran his patrol like a sea captain, always too the front never say die
Flanders the leader call is one hell of guy, except when he feels you’ve eaten enough
He can be a little hard in that the offender may not get his lunch
Then we have Rory a tough sort of guy around the young tub-lets a little bit shy
When it comes to running his own patrol, he is fair enough but cross him and he’s likely to scowl
He knows the value of an English pound, the same in euros he does too
Ask for some money there’s none too be found, perhaps it’s been lost on the wide-open ground
Two weeks altogether was the whole holiday, 8 days for the tubs it’s fair to say
We all had ball and a real great time, tubs and sprouts are one of a kind
Start as we do as busy beavers move on to the tubs as we move up a shoe
Then to the sprouts so proud and brave the cream of the unit they do believe
Soon we get bigger and when boys need the razor, it’s on to the ventures with the girls too
Ventures are famed the whole world over, for never letting anything rest upon there shoulder
There beliefs are quite strong plenty off sleep plenty too eat, usually accompanied by two large feet
They don’t care what you call them, along, as it’s not too early in the morning
From there to the rovers and begin leader training sent off to do courses and first aid as well
Then if you’re good and manage real well you become a scout leader and expert trainer
When we were on site we gave the wombles a fright, but just in a minute it changed too delight
They could see that our sprouts more able with bow and arrow, than many before
The tubs when pulling back the bowstring wanted to release it into something moving
When it came to canoe none were more able, than our tub and sprouts it was plain sailing
A complaint that came from the sprouts, the mosquitoes at the lake were the size of most trout
The rafts would not sail a reason no one could figure perhaps the tubs had sabotaged the sprouts
At the climbing wall the sprouts were quite wise, do it first before the tubs had arrived?
Such skill and the speed, at which they climbed up abseiling, back down
It was heard at the campfire why they were afraid that the tubs might fly in from above
And launch a Swiss army knife down through the clouds
Cutting the rope to see how long it took for sprouts to reach the ground
They did the tower themselves on the second week but too be sure
They sent the scouts out on bus tour to York, just too be sure they would not be back
One evening there was just a slight shower; we were all in agreement to head for Hogwarts
After the film we climbed back on the bus, back to the campsite for an evening of games
One night there was a match between the tubs and the sprouts, the winners indeed are still in doubt
Cries of unfair carried about; some said the ref he could not see: others said the ref had received money
Anyway even though the result was in doubt all agreed it was worth carrying out
When it came to the pool I was in no doubt jump in very quick before they pounce
Graham was worried the water was cool the tubs and sprouts gathered about
With words of encouragement to edge him a bit closer in the hope as he neared
By words of encouragement and indeed by song or just push him in
Just when they thought they had him in sight he leapt into the air and splashed in with a fright
Fresh indeed was that pool, for half an hour we swam about thanks to the lord
The rain it did fall, and little thunder was heard to roar so we all had to get out
I suppose we did so many things I have forgotten about, but what a good time we had
We did have only one more complaint; it came from the tub union whom felt the sprouts
When it came to flag up, the leaders they complained praised the sprouts a little too much
This was reverted on foot of the notice, proclaiming a possible strike
All joy was restored there and about the PLs of the tubs proclaimed their victory
Two great weeks in the walesby camp with only a little rain and some damp
Most of the days the sun burned warm and bright the sprouts claimed they had it organised right
Although some of the locals harboured some doubt, the tubs it was rumoured had issued warning
The sun it must shine bright in case it does not action we’ll take, and dunk it fully into the lake
The time had come for the camp to close and we started gathering up all our clothes
Tents must come down and be all packed away for our journey home the very next day
The site must be cleaned so as not too show, a group from dalkey had been there at all
Tubs and sprouts ventures and leaders all mucked in too, before we all knew the pizza was due
The camp office supplied us a house for the night before leaving so we could get some shuteye
We had a good meal before the awards some of group were eager to see who the recipients are
We did not have long to hear all our names, memories we will always keep of days in walesby
On to the awards for I do not wish to keep, a mystery to those whom seek
Sitting around waiting to hear tubs and sprouts let out a big cheer
There wear many awards to be given out for every tub and every scout
But too start the ball rolling the tubs were first call each waiting to see the name they would be given
A hat and a woggle and some badges too
All waiting in suspense to hear who would be
The cub of the camp for Walesby
Biting their nails and shuffling about
When the name was announced there was an almighty cheer
For Darragh was crowned the cub of the camp 2009
Well done to him the title of the year
Then to the sprouts so cool and collected
All of the sprouts waited to see
Except for some the girls who were a little cheeky
Who would it be to take to the stage and mark their achievement,
Not wishing to make you wait too long the scout of the camp is
Cathal Mahon. To a rapturous applause well deserved
There can be no doubt that Cathal is one hell of a scout
Then to the ventures 3 were they cool and collected, as they ought to be
Quite difficult as they can be too get off their bum
To the award we go who got the crown
It was announced that Dawn was the one
The pride and joy of this years venture crew
All of the awards were given out
A cry from the back did declare
Leaders to the back scouts up there
Tubs and sprouts and ventures too have names and awards for you
Thanks too you all you’re really kind
To keep the poor old leaders in mind
The final award it was given out
Leader of the camp was Martin Ellard
That’s all for camp till next year
Photos downloaded time to air the gear
We are all worn out cant wait for next year
Each day that passes it draws nearer
Plans are now fully in train
No were not going too Spain
Its kalkar in Germany I shout with delight
That’s all from me my fingers are sore
And I hope I have not been too much of a boar
Tubs- sprouts leaders too
Can’t wait for next year
I hope you can’t too,
